A bronze figure of the Goddess Durga
South India, 15-16th century
Seated in an at ease gesture (pralambapada ) she holds a trident in her upper right hand and a sword in her lower right. She holds a kettle drum ( damaru ) in her upper left hand and a cup( kapala) in her lower left. Behind her head a five headed snake (anchanaga) in the centre of aura (prabhamandala).
