A Javanese Keris Solo

Umur (age): Kamardikan

Asal (origin): Surakarta, Possibly Empu Suparman.

The Keris with a straight hand forged Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Nunggak Semi’ with fine ‘Bintangs’). Dapur in ‘Brojol’ shape. Small silver-gilded Mendak (cuff) of ‘Meniran’ type, between hilt and blade. Ukiran (Keris hilt) in ‘Jejeran Yudo Winatan’ shape, and carved from Djati wood. Warangka (sheath) of ‘Ladrang Ksatriyan’ type (‘boat’ shaped) and also made from Djati wood patiently carved by hand. Gandar (body) (body) with silver plated Pendok (cover), the smooth Button with Tombak and decorated with ‘Lung Melati’ pattern.

Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 46.1 cm. (1x)

Note 1: Empu Suparman was well-known for this kind of fine forged blades.
