Description

A large wooden statue of Mohini,
South Indian, 19th century.
carved standing with the head turned to the left, the hair arranged in bands with curls to the end. The left hand raised and holding a mirror which the goddess gazes into. The body decorated with
bands of necklaces, bracelets, armlets and anklets, the elongated ears with rosette earrings. Wearing a lose skirt with a belt decorated to the centre with a makara, sashes falling to the front and sides.
Standing on a lotus flower base with Mandorla framing the figure.
