An Aceh Keris, with 18th century blade.

Asal (origin): Sumatra.

The Keris with a hand forged ‘7 Luk’ waved Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Kulit Semanka Wengkon’). Dapur in ‘Sempana’ (= Elephant trunk shape). Copper Mendak (cuff) of ‘Pedongkok’ type, between hilt and blade. Ukiran (Keris hilt) in ‘Jawa Demam Jambi’ shape, and carved from Kemuning wood. Warangka (sheath) of ‘Ladrang’ type (‘boat’ shaped). Sampir Aceh and made from Buffalo horn. Gandar (body) made from Kemuning wood with silver band.

Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 39 cm. (1x)
