An East Javanese Kris, with 17th century blade.
Asal (origin): Madura Sumenep.
The Keris with a straight hand forged Wilah (blade), consists of Pamor steel forged in different layers of iron (pattern type: ‘Beras Wutah’). Dapur in ‘Brojol’ shape. Silver-gilded Mendak (cuff) of ‘Angkup Randu’ type, between hilt and blade. Keris hilt (Urikan) in ‘Tumenggungan’ shape, made from Sperm whale tooth with fine carved Kuda Panoleh and crown details. Warangka (sheath) of ‘Ladrang Capu’ type (‘boat’ shaped) and made from Pelet Nyamel Sembur wood patiently carved by hand. Gandar (body) (body) with nickel Yogya Pendok (cover), gilded Slorok with ‘Semen Pari Sawuli’ pattern.
Length of the blade, including ‘Pesi’ (tang of the blade): 43 cm. (1x)
