Arnold Eymer was initially a broker until he devoted himself entirely to painting in 1834. After an art trip through Germany in 1835 – 1836 he settled in Haarlem where he made a name for himself as a painter of romantic landscapes. He was a pupil of Cornelis Steffelaer and an employee of Jan van Ravenzwaays.
Eymer was a member of the Royal Academy. His works can be found in the Frans Hals Museum and the Teylers Museum in Haarlem.
