Artist information:
Evert Pieters mainly painted farm interiors and beach scenes with fishermen around Katwijk. At the age of 23, he went to the Academy of Beeldende Kunsten in Antwerp. After a stay in Belgium and Paris, he settled in a small province town called Blaricum, where the Gooise peasant population inspired him to paint peasant interiors with mothers and children playing. After 1920, he painted a number of dreamy impressionist portraits and nudes. Evert Pieters was very successful with his work, especially with the Americans who visited the Netherlands.
