Artist information:

Johannes Rosierse lived and worked in Dordrecht. Initially he was a shop assistant, but later on became a pupil of Machiel Versteegh (1756 – 1843) and Johannes Boshamer (1800 – 1852). Rosierse painted portraits and interiors with figures, mostly by candlelight. He was a honorary member of the Pictura Society in Dordrecht.
