Note-1: Large advertising poster with decorative artwork design depicting an elderly seated on a small stool smoking a pipe, looking at a tire being inflated by an air pressurized bottle.

Note-2: The years 1896-1914 saw a period of unprecedented prosperity. France is until 1907 the world’s leading producer of automobiles and dominates the aeronautics market. One of the consequences of this economic boom is the development of advertising. Thanks to the fall in the price of paper, advertising is invading the walls of cities. Bofa began to draw posters in 1903 but did not fully dedicate himself to this activity until 1907, first with the printer AG L’Hoir, then with Charles Verneau. The proclamation of faith of “Posters Gus-Bofa” is simple: “The poster Gus-Bofa is cheerful, it is spot, it is original, that’s why it stops the eyes of the passer-by.
